SYMBICORT INHALER 80/4.5 MCG / Overseas
Symbicort® 80/4.5 mcg Inhaler is a prescription inhaler that contains two medicines:
- Budesonide 80 mcg – an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways.
- Formoterol 4.5 mcg – a long-acting bronchodilator (LABA) that relaxes airway muscles and helps keep airways open.
Uses
Symbicort 80/4.5 is used for:
- Long-term control and prevention of asthma
- In some cases, management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) under medical supervision.
How it works
The combination helps:
- Reduce airway swelling and irritation (budesonide)
- Relax and widen the airways (formoterol)
- Improve breathing and reduce wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath.
Typical dosage
The dose varies by age and severity of asthma. Common maintenance regimens include 1–2 inhalations twice daily, but you should follow your doctor's instructions exactly.
Important note
Symbicort is generally a controller (maintenance) inhaler and should be used regularly. It is not intended to replace emergency treatment for sudden severe breathing difficulty unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it as part of a SMART/MART asthma management plan.
Common side effects
- Throat irritation
- Hoarseness or voice changes
- Headache

Store at room temperature, generally below 30°C, and keep away from excessive heat and moisture.
