Lumigan eye drops/Bimatoprost 0.1mg
Lumigan® (Bimatoprost Ophthalmic Solution 0.01% / 0.1 mg/mL) is a prescription eye drop used to lower increased pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure). It belongs to a class of medicines called prostaglandin analogs.
Uses
- Treatment of Open-angle glaucoma
- Treatment of Ocular hypertension
- Helps reduce the risk of vision loss caused by high eye pressure.
How it works
Bimatoprost increases the drainage of fluid (aqueous humor) from the eye, which lowers intraocular pressure.
Strength
- Bimatoprost 0.01% = 0.1 mg/mL
- Usually supplied as an ophthalmic solution (eye drops).
Typical dosage
- One drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, or as directed by an ophthalmologist.
- Using it more frequently than prescribed may reduce its pressure-lowering effect.
Common side effects
- Redness of the eye (conjunctival hyperemia)
- Eye irritation or itching
- Dry eyes
- Increased eyelash growth, thickness, and darkening
- Darkening of eyelid skin
- Gradual brown pigmentation of the iris (may be permanent)
Precautions
- Remove soft contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
- Inform your eye doctor if you have eye inflammation, macular edema, recent eye surgery, or are pregnant/breastfeeding.
- Regular eye examinations are recommended during treatment.
Storage
Store according to the product instructions and keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Follow your pharmacist's or doctor's guidance.
